What are Kimia dates?
Kimia dates are among the softest dates sold in India. They are dark, moist and melt-in-the-mouth, with thin skin and a rich natural sweetness that many people compare to caramel. In shops you will also see them called Mazafati – it is the same variety.
Our Aladdin Dates Kimia dates have a single ingredient – Kimia dates – and the label shows 0 g added sugar. Per 100 g the label lists energy 328.88 kcal, total sugars 65.81 g (all from the fruit), dietary fibre 8.47 g and protein 3.13 g. They are packed in a food-grade IML tub, which protects soft dates better than a pouch.
What are Medjool dates?
Medjool (also spelt Medjoul) dates are prized for their size. A single Medjool date is noticeably larger and more fleshy than most other varieties, with a soft, slightly chewy bite and a deep, caramel-like sweetness. Their size makes them the classic choice for stuffing with nuts and for premium gift boxes.
Which one should you buy?
- For daily snacking: Kimia. Soft, sweet and sold in larger, more economical packs (500 g and 1 kg).
- For desserts and smoothies: Kimia. The very soft flesh blends and mashes easily – try it in a date & coconut ladoo.
- For stuffing: Medjool. The larger size holds an almond, walnut or a spoon of nut butter.
- For gifting and guests: Medjool on its own, or a mix of varieties in a dates gift box.
How to store them
Keep soft dates in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, close the tub after use and refrigerate after opening to keep them moist and fresh.
